So I love planners. It is not hard to understand. Also, I wrote some posts in which I shared my tips on how to be more productive. Now let me tell you in on a little secret. Some of my days are not productive at all. The reality is that even though I love my planner, notebooks and notepads, I cannot say that I a very productive person.

Recently I got asked a question and I feel that this misconception should be addressed. Someone was surprised to discover that I am not a productive and organized person. I guess my love for planners and writing to-do lists can be misleading. But, I found that I do love planners. I love decorating my planners. I love writing in them, and they do help me not forget important appointments. But, most days I found that I have to move my to-do list from one day to the other.

I am more of a planning girl than doing. I love to plan, to write lists. I have more than one planner, and of course, I have more than one notebook. Well if to be honest I have more than 2 (3). I love to write and then turn my thoughts into to-dos. Then put them in my planner. But when the time comes and I need to do them, in most cases I will find that it is not done. It is not the case of being lazy, it is the case of procrastination and always finding something “better” to do.

I get distracted so easily. I will go online to find something on the web for my work. Then an hour or more later I will discover that time has passed and nothing was getting done. I was either reading an article, watching a stupid video or something else that caught my eyes. I cannot believe how easy it is to get sucked to this black hole of nothing.

I am trying to get better. I try not to put long to do lists on each day. Make it simple and things that can get done it the time that I have. I also started working with an extension on my browser that blocks the problematic sites. It is not easy. It is like dealing with an addiction.

I will continue to decorate my planners and enjoy them. But I will also, hopefully, become a more productive and use them better to get my work done.

Someone was surprised to discover that I am not a productive and organized person. I guess my love for planners and writing to-do lists can be misleading.
