There are so many printables out there online, just choose the one you want, download and print for use. There are free options and ones that you have to pay for, simple ones and more complicated ones, lots and lots of printables. I wish I could try them all. I really do love printables. However, there is a point that I felt that the more I tried printables the more I had an idea of what  I need my printables to be and how I want them to work. So, instead of spending a lot of time searching and trying different printables, why not make your own?

In this post I will show you a simple way to make printables. You can choose the size, the components, the text you want to add, colors, well – everything!

Lets get started:

Step #1: The first thing is to decided what is the purpose of the printable – is it a weekly one? Maybe a daily docket? Then decide what parts you want to be in the printable- the date, to do list, appointments etc. The last thing you have to decide is the size of your printable – it can be personal, A5, A4 or other.

Step #2: Now what I like to do is to take a piece of paper and do a little illustration of the printable. This way I can have an idea of how I want my printable to look like.

Step #3: In this step we are moving from the paper to the computer. You can make your planner on Word, Excel or some other software, but I found that it is fun and easy to make it with Canva. I use this software to design my images for this blog, for instagram and also to make printables.

First choose the size you want. It can be either from the options they give or put a new size. The size for personal printable is 91X171mm, and the size for A5 is 148X210mm.

And now you have a blank white canvas on which you can start designing your perfect printable.

You can start by adding the layout of the planner. Then dividing it to the different parts you wanted and need in your printable. Adding text, color and shapes, you can be as creative as you want. This is your printable, your perfect printable.

Here is a little idea of what you can create: daily printable idea

You can find many printables online, but it is so much more exciting to create a printable by yourself. And, there are many ways to make one, but if you can do it in an easy way – so why not try it?!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing! I was looking into purchasing inserts for my Kikki.K Planner, but I really wasn’t loving any of them. I played around with Canva and now I am in love with the inserts I designed. Thanks again!

  2. I love it! I’ve been searching for something similar for other reasons, but I just used it to make my own weekly cleaning schedule, which I couldn’t find a good version I liked for myself. I have a couple questions. I made my cleaning schedule on two A5 sheets, I think I can print, the copy for side by side and double. Now I have a blank 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet in front of me on Canva, but I can’t figure out how to change the orientation…help?

    1. Hi Samantha, to change the orientation you have to define it when you define the size, instead of 8.5X11 you have to put: 11X8.5.
I hope it helped. Good luck and thank you for stopping by,

  3. Thank you for the tutorial.. I have been wanting to make my own printables for a long time now.. I love anything to do with planners and I can never find just the right layout for me.. So now I am gonna try my hand at making my own.. Thank you so much. This was just AWESOME!!!
